These two studies were done at a life drawing day with Anthony Connolly at Somerleaze. They are not finished, and may never be, but it was an interesting, useful and entertaining day.

Oil on paper

The two pictures below are the largest paintings I've ever done. Oil on canvas, about 100 cm x 50 cm. My son and daughter in law wanted pictures of Cornwall and Brittany. The Cornish picture (on the left) is, I think near where they got engaged, but I may have made that up. The Brittany painting is looking down the coast from Prat Alec. Always an amazing view.

These small drawings below were all done during the summer and autumn of 2019. I find pen and ink a slightly haphazard medium, in that you never feel quite in control. That's not always a bad idea!

Penharn beach, oil on canvas. 50 cm square.
I used lots of glazes to try and get the depth
    of light in the sea

Theolen beach - oil on paper. 25 cm square

These three drawings all came from a morning experimenting with ink and brush. I particularly like the sepia one. Partly because of the pose and partly because of the colour.
